This is 3-layer material consisting of one polyester film covered by 2 layers of Polyester Nonwoven, saturated with a high rated resin. This Class F (155°C) material is used in electric motors and transformers. There are different types for different applications: DMD, F-DMD (DMD 70), DMD100 and Prepreg DMD.
DMD has a very high dielectric and outstanding mechanical strength. The smooth surface makes the material ideal for use on automatic insulating and insertion machines. In addition, it provides good adhesion in conjunction with impregnating materials. The outer cured resin impregnation protects the polyester film against oxidation and hydrolysis.
The material is mainly applied in stators and rotors as phase and slot insulation. Due to its special surface qualities, it is used for preshaped wedges or slot liners. Also it’s used as interlayer, core and final insulation in small transformers. |
